I chose these 12 pieces of work to photograph as they are some of the most recent and best work I have created during my time at Todmorden High School Sixth Form. I feel these images show the best of my ability and skills however, I don’t feel the photograph of my sea and seashore skirt and bra top gives it the same justice a viewing in person would.
I see myself as a creative and confident person in terms of my abilities. I have developed various skills since completing my Art and Design Textiles A Level such as felting, embellishing, silk painting in detail and knitting with recyclable sources other than wool such as plastic bags. All these skills have widen my understanding of the Textiles subject and this course was recommended to me by a few teachers at my school as they said ‘there couldn’t be a more well suited course for you’ as I have developed a flare for this subject.
I feel this course is suited to me as it is creative and art and design based but also, it explore various techniques that I haven’t had the facilities at my sixth form to explore such as weaving and printing and so that is something I am really looking forward to. I’m looking forward to collaborating on joint projects as well as working independently down the path I want to work according to my interests. I think this course will help me make further and important decisions as to what career I would like as at the moment I am unsure but know I want to work in either the Textile industry or the Graphic Design industry.

I selected these 12 images of work I have created myself during my time at Todmorden High School Sixth Form.  I chose my most creative images as I feel they best represent me as a person as well as showing my skills and abilities. Throughout my years at sixth form I have created various outcomes such as a full tea set and a character to represent child abuse. I have also had experience with working with clients as I have just redesigned the Calderdale Council Children and Young Peoples Brochure for my current graphics project. I see myself as a creative person and love the idea of being able to get a message across to people through visual imagery.  I see myself as a hard, dedicated worker and through graphic design I am really able to put my heart into my projects as well as my head. I have the skills and ability to think of my own ideas and go down my own paths and can work from a basic brief compared to following a project with set tasks.
I’ve always wanted to do something involving graphic design and currently like the idea of designing shop windows and I am hoping this course will help me decide exactly what I want to do. I think this course would be well suited to me as I feel graphic design represents me as a person. I am able to express things through graphic design that I can’t express any other way. I am really looking forward to developing a professional portfolio in year 3 to help progress me onto my future career path.
